In this article, we'll outline some common causes of deployment issues and provide step-by-step troubleshooting tips to help you resolve them.
Generally, after updating our manifest, Spellbook should function smoothly without any hiccups. However, in some cases, the update will not apply correctly and hinder functionality. Below are steps to fix these issues, organized in increasing order of escalation:
1 - Refresh Spellbook (on the User level)
Sometimes, Add-ins will not refresh correctly, especially if Microsoft Office has not been closed for an extended time. Have users follow the steps below to do this:
Click inside the Spellbook window and select the “i” button (MacOS) or the right pointing arrow (Windows), and click
“Clear Web Cache”
.Click the same button and choose
“Refresh/Reload”
.Then, completely quit out of MS Word, and open a blank document to test if Spellbook is functioning.
2 - Admin Approval (Admin)
If users are seeing a blank white screen, or a message saying "Add-in Error", an IT Admin at the company may have to approve Spellbook before it is re-activated on other machines:
Navigate to
Integrated Apps
in the Admin Centre HERESelect "Spellbook"
Click the "Configuration" tab
Expand "Open App" next to the Word option
Select "Word Online"
This will open a document in your browser. Click the Spellbook icon on the top right. If not seen, click the red square icon called Add-ins as seen below.
Once Spellbook is open, Accept our terms.
After this is complete, all deployed users can restart their instance of Microsoft Word to use Spellbook effectively.
3 - Redeploy Spellbook (Admin)
If the above steps do not work, a redeploy of the Spellbook Add-in may be necessary. Please follow the steps below if needed:
Go to Microsoft Admin Centre
Expand the
Settings
DropdownClick
Integrated Apps
Clicking Spellbook will open the Configuration Menu. Please select
Remove App
and follow the steps.Exit the Configuration menu and Click
Get Apps
Search for Spellbook and follow the instructions
