What is Spellbook Associate
Spellbook's Associate feature is a web app that focuses on multi-document workflows. It makes it easy to compare documents, revise document templates based on reference documents or ask questions about multiple documents at once.
Spellbook Word App vs Associate
The Spellbook Word app is intended for single-document work and focuses on reviewing and drafting a single doc. It is best to use Spellbook's Word app when you want to redline and mark up a single document or flag risks and improvements.
Spellbook's Associate app is best for multi-document workflows. This is when you need to revise a template based on reference documents or compare other documents. It is not intended for drafting clauses or documents from scratch, which is better suited for the Spellbook Word app. The Associate feature is best for doing comparisons or revising a template document based on other reference documents.

Once signed in, start your first project by clicking Blank Project
2. To revise or edit a document template based on reference documents, upload the template document (as a Word file) and any reference documents you like. Then type in the instructions to revise the template document based on the reference documents.
3. Find your documents and select all of the documents you want to work on and reference.
Note - Spellbook Associate can edit and revise Word Documents only, but can reference and read Word documents, PDFs and .txt files.
4. Once you have the documents you want to work on, click "Upload files and continue"
5. Next, start a chat conversation with Spellbook Associate to tell it what you'd like it to do. Type your instructions in plain language like you would with an Assistant you're asking to start a project for you.
6. Have additional questions or want more support? Contact Spellbook's Support team at Success@spellbook.legal
Spellbook will then give you an overview of how it plans to do these tasks and if you're happy with it, you can tell it to start the work and it will begin to make the edits.
7. You can see Spellbook edit your document in real time by clicking on the document and you'll see it will show up as "Drafting". This can take a few minutes to complete depending on the size of the document.
8. Spellbook Associate will also track versions and you can switch between versions to quickly reference other versions and download any versions you need.
9. The document that is being revised/edited will have a yellow dot next to it while it's processing. Once processed this dot will appear green to let you know it's complete and you can download the marked-up document.
Note that all tracked changes will appear as redlines tied to your Microsoft Word account that you are registered on Spellbook with.
10. You can also view previous projects or work on different projects in parallel by clicking on Previous Projects
11. You can click to go to any of the previous projects you've worked on in the past 30 days.
12. Once the project is complete there will be a green dot next to the file and you can download it.
13. Click on the document and then click the Download button to download it into a Word Document.
