What are Custom Benchmark Standards?
Custom Benchmark Standards are part of the Benchmark feature in Spellbook that allow you to customize exactly which rules and requirements you want Spellbook to analyze your document against.
Using Custom Benchmark Standards will enable you to have more flexibility in what you want to assess and check a document for to ensure it meets the requirements and nothing is missed.
When Should You Use Custom Benchmark Standards?
You should use Custom Benchmark Standards if you have:
Specific Jurisdiction or Practice Area Requirements -This will allow you to set up specific requirements that are in alignment with your requirements which the standard Benchmarks available in Spellbook may not be
Custom Requirements - This allows you to have more customization over the exact rules and requirements you want Spellbook to analyze documents against
Specific Compliance Needs - for your organization that you need to ensure are met in documents being reviewed
How to Create & Use Custom Benchmark Standards
1. Click "Benchmark"
2. Click "Create a Standard"
3. Spellbook will generate a set of rules and requirements for you to compare future documents against using an existing document you have. You can either use the existing document or upload a gold standard template or existing playbook. Spellbook will create the rules based on the document uploaded.
4. To upload click Browse and select the document you want to use.
5. Click "Create Standard"
6. It will then take a few moments to generate the rules for you. Once generated you can do in and edit them to your liking.
7. You can also add as many additional rules as you like by clicking Add Rule.
8. You can then type in exactly what you'd like the rule to be. The best practice for creating these rules, make it very simple and use language like "the contract must met X criteria".
9. You can also remove any rules that are not relevant for you. Simply click the Delete rule icon to remove the rule.
10. It is very important to give your Custom Benchmark Standard a clear name so you and your colleagues will know which Custom Benchmark Standard to use in which situation. Give it a clear title to explain when it should be used.
11. You can also type in the description additional context for when to use this custom benchmark standard.
12. When happy with all the rules, click "Save Custom Standard"
13. You can then instantly start using it by clicking "Run Benchmark With This Standard"
14. To find your custom Benchmark Standards and use them on future documents, simply click "Benchmark". Here's more information on how to do this.
15. Click "More Standards"
16. Go to the Team Standards tab and you can scroll through to see what other standards you and your team have created. you can also use the search feature to search for the specific one you're looking to use.
Once you've found it, click on it and it will instantly start to analyze the document against your custom benchmark standard.
17. If you ever need to edit your Custom Benchmark Standard, simply run the benchmark (per the steps above) and once it loads click on the Edit Standard button in the top right.
18. You can then make any changes you like, but note all changes will be impacted on the Custom Benchmark Standard going forward. Once saved, the changes will be live for anyone else on your team who wishes to use this Custom Benchmark Standard.
