Connect a SharePoint Library to Spellbook via OneDrive

If your team stores contracts or templates in SharePoint, you can connect those files to Spellbook’s Library by syncing them through OneDrive. This allows you to access and use your shared documents directly within Spellbook — without needing to manually upload or duplicate files.

⚠️ Disclaimer: This setup method is not officially supported by Spellbook. It relies on Microsoft’s “Add Shortcut to OneDrive” feature, which may change or stop functioning if Microsoft updates its sharing or connection behavior. Results may vary depending on your organization’s configuration and permissions.

Add Your SharePoint Folder to OneDrive

  1. Go to your SharePoint site where the folder is located.

  2. Navigate to the folder you want to connect.

  3. Click the “Add shortcut to OneDrive” button in the toolbar.

  4. You’ll see a confirmation message once the shortcut has been created.

This will add the SharePoint folder to your OneDrive → My Files section. You can now access it like any other folder in your OneDrive via File Explorer or Finder.

Confirm the Folder Appears in OneDrive

  1. Open OneDrive in your browser or desktop app.

  2. Look under My Files — you should see the new SharePoint folder listed with a link icon 🔗 next to it.

  3. Verify you can open and view files from within that folder.

If the folder doesn’t appear immediately, try refreshing or waiting a few minutes for synchronization to complete.

Connect OneDrive to Spellbook

  1. In Spellbook, open Draft New Clause.

  2. Click “Manage Library”.

  3. Click "New Folder" and select "OneDrive".

  4. Sign in with your Microsoft account (the same one linked to your SharePoint site).

  5. Once connected, navigate through your OneDrive folders to select the SharePoint shortcut folder you just created.

After connecting, Spellbook will securely index your documents so you can search, summarize, and draft from them directly within Word.

Start Using Your Files in Spellbook

Once your connection is complete, you’ll be able to:

  • Search your SharePoint documents directly in Draft and Ask.

  • Use Library references in drafting workflows.

  • Keep documents synced automatically — any updates in SharePoint will reflect in your Spellbook-connected Library.
